Second generation film artists in Nepali movie industry (Kollywood)

Nepali movie industry is largely influenced by Indian movie industry, Bollywood. Similar to Bollywood, it is easier for the kids of actors and film technicians to enter the film industry. Some of the names of second generation artists in Nepali industry include:

Samyam Puri - son of director Narayan Puri started in movies as a child artists and had debuted as an adult actor in ‘Samaya’.

Salon Basnet – son of actor and director Shovit Basnet is also debuting in ‘Hostel’.

 

Bhawana Regmi – the daughter of director Shiva Regmi debuted in ‘So Simple’. Although the movie wasn’t successful commercially, Bhawana’s acting was appreciated.

Anmol KC – the son of actor Bhuwan KC debuted in a song of ‘Sathi Ma Timro‘ and is debuting as an actor in ‘Hostel’ and Karodpati-2.

Gaurav Pahadi – the son of actor Tika Pahadi debuted in ‘Manjari’ and he is also being featured in ‘Hostel’.

Keki Adhikari – the daughter of director Badri Adhikari has established herself as a good actress. Keki debuted in ‘Swor’ and has acted in movies like ‘Masan’, ‘I am Sorry’, ‘Mayako Barima’, ‘A For America’, ‘Mutu’ and ‘Biteka Pal’.

Rista Basnet – the daughter of hair dresser and actress Bipana Basnet is featured as the fake Hisila Yami and is debuting in ‘Hostel’.

Sajja Mainali – the daughter of comedy actor Gopal Raj Mainali debuted in ‘Nau Danda Pari’ but, after marrying Om Bhattarai she went to USA leaving the career in Nepali movie industry.

Prasiddhi Rayamajhi – the daughter of actress Sushila Rayamajhi did ‘Pinjada’ and ‘Dhan Sampatti’ but didn’t continue acting after that.

Ragini Khadgi – the daughter of fight director Rajendra Khadgi has also chosen acting as her career. After debuting in ‘Plan’, Ragini has done movies like ‘Dulahi Rani’, ‘Mero Jiwan Sathi’, ‘Bheti’, ‘Nothing Impossible’ and ‘Gahirahi’.

Bijaya Thapa – the son of late director Prakash Thapa has also chosen to be a director, although he hasn’t been much successful in direction.

Sauryajit Baskota – the son of music director Sambhujit Baskota has also composed music in the movie ‘Kusume Rumal‘. Although the music was liked by people, Suryajit hasn’t composed music in other movies, yet.

Nirak Poudel – the son of producer and distributor Uddav Poudel had also directed a movie. In his childhood, he had also acted as a child artist in movies.

Raymon Das Shrestha – the son of actor Madan Das Shrestha had composed music of ‘Filim’ and is also debuting as an actor in ‘Megha’.

Ishowri Pradhan – the daughter of director Sambhu Pradhan had acted as a child artists in a lot of movies. She also acted as an adult actress in ‘Shorha Barse Jowan’. But, she has stopped acting after the movie and is currently living in the USA with her husband.

Our tradition and culture are similar to India similar to India we are used to the tradition of kids choosing the occupations of their parents. In Bollywood, the actors in second generation and generations after that have established film related families like Kapoor family, Bachchan family and so on. We can see a similar future in Nepali movie industry.

Loafer actress Rajani KC’s mourning on her father’s death

The ‘Loafer’ debut actress Rajani KC is mourning after the death of her 54-years old father, Chandra KC. Chandra was found dead in his bed on Thursday morning. He didn’t have any known medical problems to blame for his death.

According the the ‘Loafer’ producer Chhabi Raj Ojha, the dead body will be cremated in Pashupati later today after family members arrive from Nuwakot. Rajani is the only child of her parents. Rajani’s debut movie ‘Loafer’ is going to release on Mangsir 21 (December 6, 2013).

We all are wishing the deceased soul rest in peace and family members get the courage to deal with the loss.

Nisha Adhikari appreciates Priyanka Karki’s choreography skills

It is rare that an actress in Nepali film industry appreciate another actress. Pulling each other’s legs is one of the favorite game in the industry. So, Nisha’s positive comment on actress Priyanka Karki‘s potential in Nepali film industry can be considered a rare incident.

As we have already reported about Priyanka Karki choreographing in her upcoming movie ‘Mission Paisa Reloaded’. After she choreographed the song featuring Nisha Adhikari, Nisha told Priyanka is a "great choreographer in making". She also added, they have been friends for the last seven years.

About the strength of Priyanka, Nisha says, "With her eyes for details and hard work she is not just a rising star but is a potential changing agent of our industry."

Priyanka admits that it was the first time she was choreographing people other than herself.

Two new movies, Deepak Shrestha‘s ‘Veer’ and Baburam Ghimire’s ‘Hamri Cheli’ are releasing in theaters on September 6, 2013. Nether of the movies were publicized before release.

  

‘Hamri Cheli’, made on a story of violence against women, features Giri Prasad Pun, Shital KC and Pradeep Dhakal in main role. The movie produced by Minprasad Shrestha is directed jointly by Manish Panth and Baburam Ghimire.

‘Veer’ is a masala movie by director Deepak Shrestha featuring Rekha Thapa and Yash Kumar in lead roles. The movie made on a story of love and revenge is produced by Rambha Oli.

Bindaas 2 poster withdrawn after protest by the actress Anisha Gurung

This is like a scripted story in case of the director Raju Giri‘s film making. He designs hot poster without the consent from the actress and releases in the wild. The public responds to it for being hot and vulgar. There is a bit of tussle between the actress and the director before he decides to withdraw the poster.

  

The strategy has worked for Giri so far and he has repeated it in his upcoming movie ‘Bindaas 2′. Actress Anisha Gurung and her family objected the poster of Anisha featured on the poster. After a tussle and negotiation, Giri has agreed to remove the poster from the promotion. Satisfied Anisha will be promoting the movie actively.

Details of Aryan Sigdel’s movie November Rain announced

In a program held in Kathmandu Aryan Sigdel and the team announced the details of his debut movie as a producer. The movie named ‘November Rain’ will be directed by the director of ‘I am Sorry’, Dinesh Raut, and will feature Aryan, Namrata Shrestha and a new actress Chhulthim Gurung in lead roles.

The movie is jointly produced by Aryan and a NRN, Subash Giri under Aryan Sigdel Entertainment. The movie is written by Chetan Gurung, music is composed by Taraprakash Limbu and music videos will be directed by Alok Nembang.

The love story movie is scheduled to release on the Valentine Day, February 14, 2014.

Rekha Thapa unveiled adult novel ‘Droupati’

In a program held in Kathmandu the second novel of the controversial writer Rajendra Thapa was unveiled. Actress Rekha Thapa unveiled the novel titled ‘Droupati’.

Rajendra Thapa’s first novel ‘Khelauna’ was of adult nature written on the story of the out-spoken model Smita Thapa, who claim to use male as a toy.

While talking in the event, the writer Rajendra Thapa told that the novel has a symbolic meaning. The ancient figure Droupati is known as the wife of five brothers – Pandavas. Rajendra also told that he has got numerous offers to make movies on the story of his previous novel ‘Khelauna’. He told that the movie based on the story will be announced soon.

Censor Board eyes Shushma Karki’s tattoo on breast

Time again Nepal’s Censor Board is known for acting on the baseless intuition of it’s members. As many of their decision are not based on facts, a protest or judicial decision help them to change their decision. In a latest case, the Board has decided that the tattoo of sun on actress Sushma Karki‘s breast is against patriotic norms.

The decision was made while censoring a movie featuring Sushma in an item dance in her upcoming movie ‘Rajniti’. Although the movie was awarded a PG certificate, the Board has asked the film makers to remove the portions of the movie featuring the actress’ tattoo.sushma karki tattoo

  

It was not the first time Sushma has shown the tattoo in movies. The posters of her movie ‘Bindaas’ had her featuring the tattoo. But, the Censor Board hadn’t objected on the tattoo at that time.

It is strange to know that the Board is claiming the ownership of an image of a celestial body. Making a tattoo is a personal decision and a human is free to choose what image they want to have on their body. Having a National flag engraved on one’s body is supposed to be patriotic in nature but, the Board official think the opposite.

In my personal opinion, the sun image doesn’t look like the one seen in the flag of Nepal. Even if it were exact copy, that doesn’t mean a Nepali can’t have images on their bodies. These types of decision by the Government body degrade its credibility (if any) further. Some of a few examples of the lack of proper preparation on making decision by the board can be illustrated by the following list:

• The board had to change it’s decision on ‘Dhuwani’ under media pressure.
• Supposedly being 80% vulgar ‘Barbad’ was later awarded ‘A’ certificate.
• Under the pressure of the army ‘Badhshala’ was banned and was later un-banned for no concrete reason.
• The Board had changed it’s decision on ‘Samaya’ after it’s producer and actress Mausami Malla protested.
• Banning of the controversial movie ‘ATM‘ was nullified after the court decided to unban the movie.

  

By the latest move of the Censor Board, it seems, actresses need to censor pass their tattoos before they sign-in a movie!

Yes, such a thing can only happen in Nepal !!

Bindaas 2 poster – another stolen poster from Hindi movie features actress Anisha Gurung without clothes

Nepali actress Anisha Gurung is debuting in Nepali movie industry in ‘Bindaas 2′. The film makers have copied the concept of Hindi film ‘Nasha’ in the latest poster of the movie. In place of Indian hot model Poonam Pandey, ‘Bindaas 2′ poster features Anisha. In the poster, Anisha is featured covering sensitive parts of her body by placards.

‘Bindaas 2′ director Raju Giri is known for having problems with actresses in his previous movies – ‘Bindaas’, ‘Chandrawati’, and ‘Rakshya’.

The movie featuring actress Sushma Karki, Jiwan Luitel and Sushank Karki in main roles is scheduled to release in Tihar holidays.

Actress Hema Shrestha got sick during shooting

While shooting form her upcoming movie ‘Hasia’ actress Hema Shrestha got sick and had to take rest while breathing oxygen from a cylinder. The shooting being held in Mudhe, Sindupalchowk had to be halted after the unfortunate incident.

The director of the movie, Milan Chams told that the bad weather and a  lot of work had tired the actress. A 107 member shooting team is currently in the area to shoot the climax scene of the movie.

More than two-third of the shooting of the movie is already finished and the remaining shooting is expected to finish in about a month. The movie features various crimes including gang fights, political backings to illegal activities and so on. The movie featured Rajesh Hamal, Anup Shahi, Hema Shreshta. The movie also features the first Miss Nepal, Ruby Rana in a special role. Actress Jharana Bajracharya is also featured in one of the item dances in the movie.
